Backflow Testing

East Valley Water District (EVWD) requires the annual testing and maintenance of all currently installed backflow devices. Properly functioning backflow devices play an important part in protecting our drinking water system. State and local guidelines listed in Title 22 of the Administrative Code require that they be tested once a year by a certified tester. Testing shall be completed by a San Bernardino County certified tester in accordance with EVWD Ordinance 395.

Evaluating Potential Hazards

Surveys play an important role in maintaining effective Cross-Connection Control Programs. Surveys are conducted on new and change of ownership properties to evaluate any potential hazards that may exist. Potential hazards identified are then evaluated for their degree of hazard before a determination can be made as to what type of backflow protection should be installed to protect the water system.

Forms and Applications

Backflow devices must be tested by certified backflow testers. A partial list of testers (PDF) is available at the link below if you prefer a third-party company test your device. All backflow test forms are recorded and filed by district personnel following our testing or upon receiving documentation of testing from a certified backflow tester.
