North Fork Pipeline Replacement Project Completed

Access to multiple sources of water allows East Valley Water District (District) to meet current and future water needs, provides resiliency during droughts or natural disasters, and gives the District the ability to optimize water quality.

Last year, the North Fork Pipeline that conveys surface water from the Santa Ana River to the District’s treatment plant suffered damage caused by the Line Fire, rendering access to this supply temporarily unavailable.

In June, the District initiated construction to replace the 300 feet of the pipeline that was damaged by the fire. In just a few weeks, crews completed the installation and the new pipe was brought back online for service. To ensure a reliable service for years to come, the pipe was upgraded to a reinforced concrete pipe which is made from concrete and strengthened with steel reinforcement.

The completion of this project will provide continued access to surface water and allow the District to meet the community’s water needs. To learn more about the District’s water sources, visit eastvalleywater.gov/WaterResources.
